The State Non Food Products Inspectorate under the Ministry of Economy (hereinafter called as the "Inspectorate") was established on the 1rst of July, 2000 by Resolution No. 505 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 4 May, 2000 (Official Gazette, 2000, No.38-1064) after the reorganization of the Lithuanian State Quality Inspectorate, State Hygiene Inspectorate and State Veterinary Service.
To protect the national market and citizens from dangerous and low quality non-food products (articles and services), to perform market surveillance and protect consumers' right.
OUR STRATEGIC GOAL
Ensure efficient market surveillance of non-food products, consumer protection and fair competition in business, in line with the European Union legislation.
OUR MAIN ACTIVITIES
State Non Food Products Inspectorate performs the following main functions:
• Control of compliance of products and services supplied to the market with the established mandatory safety, labelling and other legal acts and suspension or ban of supply of non-food dangerous products to the market.
• Consumers' right protection. Investigation of consumers' complaints concerning low quality non-food products.
• Provision of consultations to producers, importers, distributors on issues of safety of non-food products and services.
• Provision of information to interested state or international authorities.
